yes i installed one from my probe turbo when i got my prado with 2 year warranty gaskets included i pulled the bottom c clip from the thermostat for better flow these engines are built by HINO and are used as reefer motors i run mine at 4000 all day at 120,ooo i pulled the head to see what the fuss was about had it magnafluxed it was fine the prado is an exellent machine dont be discouraged

re intercooler

the probe intercooler is small i mounted it in front of the rad
remember rapid heating and cooling cracks the heads, if it gets super hot dont shut it off or let it idle with the throttle hold it at 2000 then start to bring it down to idle providing water pump and clutch fan work fine .

the wife hit a rock wall on ice at the River shiver, the LH fender, grill and clearence light is demolished...
sorry

BTW, this unit also has a brand new Dakar/OME lift kit on it, not even 2 weeks old (maybe 100 km)

most of all I need the right hand marker, any chance?
how much for the lift?
thanks

Hi Wayne,
Still need an electronic hub for my LJ78, if you are parting out.
Thanks,
Rick

help... dead LJ78

Hi,

My LJ78 appears to have died. Problem is, i live in Argentina and it died in Bolivia, so this forum maybe my saviour in rescuing it, or at least giving me some info to pass to the (dubious) Bolivian mechanics...

Basically, it's been overheating a lot recently, particularly on climbs. I thought it maybe the altitude (3000m plus asl) but when i took it down to sea-level problems continued. Radiator has been cleaned, all filters replaced, oil changes have been regular. She had a new head gasket (impactadora / junta) to see if this rectified it, old one looked pretty burnt. still no difference though. It seems to me that the water isn't circulating properly (no noises from pump though). Tried changing thermostat for one that opens at 75 degrees instead of 88, also ran it with no thermostat at all. Fan has been fixed, so no viscous coupling to go wrong.

Symptons are strange. Needle indicates its running quite cold until it suddenly climbs towards the red, by which time i stop, take the cap off and the vapor and boiling water eject about 6 feet.....
Also, possibly a linked cause, exhaust puts out think black smoke on acceleration, and not just at start up, all the time. Cleaned the injectors but this didn't really help.

Any one experienced similar problems and have any ideas. !!

cheers!

did the water pump get replaced?

Have you done a pressure test on the coolant system.

So the head has been off.....was there any cracks? Did they magnaflux head for cracks? It might have a crack that is impossible to see by the eye and combustion gasses are going in to the coolant system.

Sorry to hear.

I'd be willing to buy the 'Prado' off the rear doors (for my dog house).

you can have the PRADO sign off the bush pig...not like it is needed in the buswh...
