The first part of treatment is admitting you have a problem!!!!

Triple locked, super clean 1996 with brand new rubber and 210k miles.....5k$..... I couldn’t pass it up.....

I think I’m going to have a mall crawler build in conjunction with my rock crawler build.

While I’m in the photo library.... here’s a throw back to my first wheeling trip with Island Riot out to uwharrie. The Jeep in the front lost all breaks at the top of Daniel and took a free ride all the way down into a tree, really lucky he didn’t mess himself up, he was obviously shook up. The Jeep in the back blew up trying to pull the Jeep in the front off the trail. ISLAND RIOT TO THE RESCUE!!!!! I towed both rigs from the bottom of Daniel to the parking lot.....BEAST MODE...was insanely impressed with the power of the rig to be able to pull two anchors over and through the various obstacles.

Finally got some time to work on IslandRiot over the holidays.

Took advantage of PitBull tires 55% off sale and picked up a set of five for the 80 and four for my GMC 3500hd. Super pleased with them so far.

17” ATX Chamber Pro beadlocks with 1.5” spacers

Extended all the brake lines and bled all the brakes. Have a small leak out the master cylinder so that’ll be replaced shortly.

Also helped a buddy mount up a new set of sliders. Super well built and heavy.

Bushings, castor correction and general clean-up. Gonna wheel it like this for a bit and hopefully go 3-link front and rear.

Also dropped in a pretty sweet (by sweet I mean super cheap) Boss double din stereo with backup camera.

Also going to have an anchor for sale soon if anyone is in need. Rear bumper overhaul and minimizing in the works.

The cooler season has me itching to get back on the trails. Time to get back to work on IslandRiot. Rebuilt the rear hubs after I had some fluid leaking down inside the rear wheel. Somehow that lead to chopping the rear frame in preparation for a new rear bumper. Picked up some scrapyard steel and HERE WE GO!

Even found an old purchase that’s been lurking in the shop for at least year, El Cheapo LED rock lights.

The quarantine seems to have reinvigorated me. Time to wrap up some stuff so I clean out the shop. Cut a couple inches out of the rear quarters and capped em with some sheet steel. Picked a piece of 2x3 square tubing and an old D10 dozer cutting edge for 50$. Let’s see how this bumper shakes out.

Bumper is coming together. THICK steel, so I’m definitely not saving any weight with this thing, but I don’t hang anything off the rear so should work out fine. And I picked up a boat load of departure angle and rear clearance.

Doesn’t look like it’s going to be easy but damn it’s gonna be sweet if it all works out. Black leather...WITH AN ARMREST!!!! Also going to graft the center console in, with you guessed it, CUP HOLDERS.

Truck hadn’t gotten much live for a while. Caught a wild hair in the last couple weeks and been knocking out some of my punch list.

Rebuilt the rear hubs
Rear heater delete - to accommodate new seats
Cut the rear frame cross member and built new rear bumper, rear rockers protected by a repurposed D10 dozer blade. (waiting to paint before mounting)
Installed NEW BUCKET SEATS up front and a new center console...WITH CUPHOLDERS!!!!
Installed rock lights (still gotta tuck wires)
Underhood maintenance light
New fuse block for accessories

working out some new rear seats right now. a little precision alignment with a maul hammer and they fit perfect, gotta figure out mounting for quick removal.

Hey Jesse, stumbled across your build and figured I had to say wassup. I'm in Gloucester and just starting my fj80 journey, ive got an unlocked 91. Im starting with rust removal and bumpers but also gathering parts for a lq4, 4l80e, and potentially SD axle build. Maybe we could catch up enjoy some beverages and swap some ideas sometime. Cheers
