I figured it was about time to introduce myself to the group. I've been lurking for the past several months soaking in the information that is provided in this forum. I must say it is very helpful! I am not new to the Landcruiser world, but I am new to the 80 series. I also have a 1978 FJ-40 that I rebuilt over the past 6 years, but I won’t get into that here. I recently purchased a 1997 FZJ-80 40th Ann. w/ factory lockers and 140k on its clock just over 6 months ago. I acquired it from the original owner who was very particular about maintenance and followed the Toyota factory service schedule to a tee and provided all Toyota service records to back up his claims. He even had every receipt for oil changes. Needless to say I felt confident in the trucks maintenance records.

With help from friends in Tornado Alley Cruisers (local Club) plus reading through the extensive archives of ih8mud I have kept busy upgrading my rig to suite my daily driving habits and off road performance needs that fit how and where I will be taking it on weekend runs. I'm sure over time my needs will change as any Landcruiser owner experiences….. Mods that have been completed thus far are as follows: 285/75/16 BFG AT/KO's, 851/860 OME medium suspension w/ N73 & N74E shocks + steer stabilizer, CDL switch, PIN 7 mod, front/rear Diff Breather extensions, Complete coolant system flush, Center cap refurb, Complete front end rebuild; new rotors, 100 pads, new inner/outer wheel bearings and truen (sp) bearings, Birf repack, etc…

I'm going to fab up a new spare tire carrier on the stock bumper in the coming months which should be a fun project! Anyway, no questions for you guys today just wanted to say hello and finally put key pad to screen!

Attached are a few pictures of my rig for you to enjoy!

Thanks

Zane Zwerenz

Nice looking rig. Get rid of those running boards and get some sliders :flipoff2:

Are you going to put an ARB on the front? Why not fab a whole new rear bumper with a tire carrier?

Oh and welcome to the madness :D

does that lightening rod thru the middle of the passenger compartment ever bother you?
and, your license plate is dirty....

:flipoff2:

sharp rig....welcome!

That's a pretty clean looking rig! Welcome to the land of enchantment :flipoff2:

Yes, I plan on an ARB Bull Bar but not for a while. I'm aware of the medium springs and ARB Bull Bar combo issues, but I didn’t know how long it was going to be before the bumper was added so I went this route. As for the rear bumper fab work, I'm doing baby steps.... I'm sure I can use most of the tire carrier that I fab up for the factory bumper on any future bumper made down the road.

Looks like the 851/860 OME medium suspension w/ N73 & N74E shocks gave you a 2.5" lift. Is that correct or is it less?

Thanks for the intro :D

I swear, i'm getting more and more jealous. That's the exact rig i would love to have...........got a little trigger happy and bought the second one i looked at. Still i love my truck, but that color, 40th, lockers, clean.....i'm jealous.

Welcome to the board. :flipoff2:

I actually got about 3" of lift in the front and close to 4" in the back, but my measurements were not that scientific.

Nice lift. Probably got 2" front & 4" back which is typical. Thats the exact amout of lift I want. Nothing too extreme.

Are those tires loud at high speed?

Nice rig there bud, baby steps are good, and good luck with the rack.

A little off topic though, but why is it usually more lift in rear than front, I'd like my rig to sit level without spacers, but it seems like even with J's, I'm gonna have to space more in the front than in the rear.

Oh yea, you can always go with the heavy's in front and sell your med's when you decide to go ARB, I'm sure someone will come along wanting them.

With the BFG AT's I can barely hear them but they only have 500 miles on them so only time will tell. Just rotate and balance them often I suppose. I feel they are a fair balance between street tires and MT's for someone who uses there rig as a daily driver but everyone has there own opinion regarding tires.

BFG AT's 2.5" OME and ARB Bull Bar. No Medium issues now, but I'll have to change to Heavies when I get a winch.

Now you know why I liked the color.

Welcome :flipoff2:

I'm one of the few who likes the running boards and roof racks, guess I'm sort of a :princess:
