Yes oz after reading through some of the other threads I checked it and found it is an extended chassis and rest assured nothing cruiser will be thrown away if I don't want it I will offer it to others who might.

I'm hoping to have a good go over it today maybe start sorting some parts but I have a bit to do so I may not get to it until tomorrow.

Appears to have a later steering column without the three on the tree.

Also I did forget to mention that sadly the original F engine is long gone the po said the 2F was in it when he purchased it so unless I can find an F engine I will have to run the 2F although if I ever find an F I will buy it and fit it along with the 3 speed.

Well mate the important stuff is there. Shame some fxxxhead cut your dash, but I you'll be able to find or recreate those ribs easy enough. The earlier columns are out there too. Chuck up a pic of the steering box dude, the early one's don't usually bolt up to the later columns. Still clean though brother! Another survivor!

I know a bloke who is a qualified panel beater and not the new stuff he is old school also have a couple of good sheety mates so that butchery shouldn't be to hard to undo. Will post a pic of the steering box shortly.

What would be worthwhile doing is finding someone with a set of factory VIN stamps in the TEQ pattern and get that VIN restamped. Might help further down the track. You know the government's like..

That would be good I was thinking I'd like to re-stamp it the front of the chassis rails need some tlc there are some holes that are oxy cut for crying out loud haha nothing I can't fix with the mig.

If you scrape a bit more you will find the 4-fj45 *645*

I figured the 4 is under there and didn't feel the need to uncover it all in good time. I plan to strip it to the chassis tidy it up and get it blasted and powder coated then rebuild.

Nice one. She's the later style box that one, the pre-'70 ones were a one-piece box and column. To run the later type of box and column you need to have customised the firewall hole to accept the cup that goes with it [as yours has been done]. No biggie unless you're going concourse.

Jeez that frame is clean! Actually the whole thing is. You find it out west..? I see you've got an aftermarket brake booster. Back in the day I think an FJ55 booster was pretty popular. Yours might be one too, which'd be a pretty cool period feature if you're staying drums. Don't slow down on the pics buddy

One thing you will notice is the white paint on absolutely everything he did this before giving up on the project but personally I think this has helped with preservation so I'm damn glad he did it.

I'll start sorting through some parts a bit later and show you the goodies under the spare bonnet. I contacted the po today to see if he had the original motor sadly he didn't but did mention if anything was missing to let him know and he would have a hunt around for it.

It's a solid base to work with like I mentioned earlier I'd like to enjoy it and drive it regularly so I won't be to critical about keeping it 100% original but any mods made will be easily undone ie no body mods or chassis mods, I'm hoping I can get a two inch lift kit that fits with no mods tough dog lists theirs as 65 and later wonder if there is any difference.

So I have had a look through some of the bits and pieces and taken more photos thought I would share.

I only have two of the split rims so need to track down at least another three.

These are the wheels it's currently wearing they will probably become a spare set for my 60.

The chev pattern bellhousing which will be sold it is a Castlemaine Rod Shop item think it might be unused to.

The spare bonnet is pretty tidy to.

The radiator frame also got photo bombed by the dog.

Also came with this one from a falcon not sure if it was fitted or just sitting in the tray none the less it will end up at the tip more than likely.

A 4 speed seems complete

welcome. nice old cruiser payney. these old fixed cabs dont exist in any great numbers though a couple aussie ones have come out of the woodwork lately. have a 64 as general farm runabout myself; my thread is project patina here on the fj45 page.

there has been some spruiking about 3 on the tree. i believe in aust (unlike america) column shift was only on 62 and early 63 fj45 whick makes yours a stick shift model. all the easier to get bits for believe me! however if perchance you find any column shift bits and pieces stashed in the spares i am more than interested in them. and i have a couple early ones for wrecking over here but im a long way away and most of the unobtainum is gone.

indicators and steer column has been mentioned. yours also has later doors and later steps.

your front chassis crossmember seems sound enough in the pics. this is a real bonus; i find this a weak point on these old girls. also your roof looks pretty good from most angles. hard to tell on my old computer if the marks along the front of your roof are rust or some other discolouration. good roofs are very hard to find and later post 64 ones are different.

my personal passion is stock old landcruisers left in their faded original paint patina. that yours has been butchered a bit, roughly dismantled and given a dreadful paint job really gives you a license to build whatever you want from this solid base. i look forward to it. keep the progress reports coming, throw nothing away and ask plenty of questions!

I have a bit more time today so I started on the clean up and sorting here is progress so far I don't know what some of this stuff is so feel free to enlighten me I know the basic stuff but wonder where some of the brackets are for and so on.

I have a question what should my wheel base be? After reading west aussies project patina thread and seeing the photos of the extended chassis then having another look at the chassis on mine it does not look the same as west aussies. But this could still be extended I'm not sure what it should look like.

Unfortunately I'm at work for 4 days won't be much time for the rig but pretty sure I'll have a week off between jobs so should get to have more of a tinker then.

payney - step 1 - get that original 64 interior mirror out of your garden and into your safe - step 2 - gather up a couple mates and a decent esky and come for a drive across the paddock. this uncut (heavy surface rust only) 64 dash is what you need for your project. its in the perfect donor vehicle!

With the 3 speed column was the ignition barrel in the dash? I want to have it in the dash but with mine it's on the column does anyone have pictures of an original 64 dash layout so I can see what goes where.
