Gary T is wondering if the club would be interested in having a Mt. Cheam/Thurston run this year on a Saturday. The autumn leaves and scenery are spectacular and this daytrip has been enjoyed by many, over the years. Once, we had a big snowfall, but usually the weather is ok.
So we need some feedback whether enough people are interested in participating again this year. Mount Cheam is located behind Chilliwack.

I am definitely interested.

I just want to be as sure as possible that we don't get caught high on that mtn traverse, in a convoy heading uphill, while a blizzard swirls around us.

I remember that one, Bill. Huge pucker factor. But jokes aside, a little (gulp) frightening as I recall. Some trucks had fairly bald tires too!!!

I'm interested for sure; let's hope we still have some sunny weekends coming!

The time we got caught in that surprise snowstorm a few years back, was a freak situation. It was bad in that some were caught without adequate clothing and rubber boots. It was wet, cold, and dangerous. Having said that, we will do our best to avoid that in the future. However, we suggest anyone coming should have decent tires, plus plenty of fuel and suitable clothing. We will check the weather reports before the run, and stay at a lower elevation if necessary.

I'd be interested in going just to see canucksafari actually wheel. lol!

I live on the island, but would be interested to meet new people and go somewhere new. Unless work raises its ugly head, I'd be in. Good tires, winch, open diffs.

Our club policy is to always welcome new people and share our wheeling experiences. We will announce the date of this run as soon as it is decided, and we classify it as a "family friendly day trip". For the hard core wheelers, there are a couple of diversions such as Widowmaker Hill and the Gravel Pit Big rock climb.

Great group photo, Bill. I really like your yellow, rainproof, customized expedition chair. I can't tell, but does it have a backrest too?:D

I'm in, probably. I had fun that trip with the snow its like the ice fishing trips I do every year. Took us 9 hours to go 8 kms to the lake 2 years ago.

that would be cool to see. ;)

anyone remember the plain that crashed up there about ten years ago, the remains are still be up there. poor guy just missed the tip of the ledge by about 20 meters.

Yeah right. Better chance of winning the lottery or seeing a Yeti and getting it on with the 3 boobed girl from 'The Running Man' in the same 24 hour period.

The only winch needed would be to 'recover' his ass from the computer chair!

lol

That's a Transformer Chair. It converts to a vehicle entry/exit step, or an elevated platform for taking pictures, a makeshift table, or even a milk carton case. It doesn't need a backrest 'cause I've got Jeff for that and to hold my beverage! :smokin:

Yeah Ill try to attend too - 'Total Recall' huh? Consider this a divorce!

Sailor -

Classic film. In fact, I watched it recently and while I wasn't blown away by the 1990 special effects, I was impressed by the sophisticated dialogue...or monolgue and one-liners. "Get you ass to Mahs. Get you ass to Mahs."
Oh, don't forget johnny cabs, it's coming in the not-to-distant future.

Sharon Stone was pretty hawt back then...
