I'm tempted to go with a Nexus4 for the clean Android, unlocked status, HSPA+, world coverage, and low price. But one of the things that is making me hesitate is that they don't have SD card expandability like some others. And it's only 8GB or 16GB. Of course, the lack of SD may or may not be an issue depending on the app since some apps can't store their data directly to an added SD card anyway. But of course the flexibility of an add-on SD card is good.

So, even for those of you who are using an Android heavily, is 16GB typically enough for your uses? I may be storing big maps but don't plan on storing much if any music, videos and pics on the phone or at least not for long.

I'm thinking email, internet browsing, occasional minor pics and vids taking, probably little if any music, occasional heavy use of GPS and maps, skyping. No gaming. I do like to experiment with apps a bit but will then usually delete the less performing ones. I'm guessing that even a bunch of topo and road maps for a few states can't be much more than 2 or 3GB. That right?

Happy with your Nexus4?

But in general, 16GB typically enough on Android or did you find yourself hamstrung by that limit without added SD?

added: did some more reading about the Nexus4. Interestingly, the argument seems to be more over the 8 vs 16, with nobody I've read mentioning that the 16 was not enough and quite a few people saying that they were good with 8GB. Especially given that the N4 is cloud-geared. So 16 maybe not an issue at all?

My Nexus S has 16GB of memory and I've never had an issue with it being not enough. I don't think you'll have a problem. I like the Nexus 4 as well but I'm still happy with my Nexus S so haven't really had a need to upgrade.

my galaxy nexus has no sd card as well. its never been an issue. Same as you I dont store a ton of music or videos but do have some, along with a lot of pictures. I also have several mapping apps, and other apps just for messing around. I'm at 6 gb used. If you do get close to full its easy to move some stuff off.

Just read that there are rumors of a 32gb Nexus 4 coming out at the end of april that will work with Verizon & Sprint.
