Sounds like that would be one fast cruiser!

Seriously though, the production version might not be too bad. Think it would fit?

i dont have anything against diesels- i own 2. but you could probally buy a 400hp+ crate motor for less than a new diesel. if you were mechanically inclined you would buy a used block: 350 chev , ford 302 or maybe even a 460 all can be found in a bargain finder and can be brought to uapnapa to get the block machined for relatively cheap and then rebuild with parts for low end torque if thats what you want. end result: lots of hp, easily found parts and still cheaper. if i still wanted a diesel than maybe id find a used cummins with lower kms, maybe chip it or throw the banks stuff on it. still easier to replace parts and heaps o torque. after wrenching on a 3b long enough you might wonder why not. not that i dont enjoy the 3b i have, its just you can still only get so much power out of one.

WOW! Maybe you should let the JCBDiesel guys know that they could have just bought a disposable V8 from Napa and saved themselves all the trouble and expense of all those Turbos and Intercoolers and stuff, while you are at it you should let Audi know too.. they recently won the Lemans 24hour race and they did it in a V10 TDI. WTF were they thinking?

They won not because the gassers had less HP. It was torque AND efficiency, something you just can't buy in a American V8.

looks like i struck a nerve. my apologies for such rude ideas. my opinion wasnt to talk you out of buying a jcbdiesel or a lemans winning audi v10, im sure theyre all very cheap maybe ill buy 3. but really, i was saying that maybe there is more cost efficient options, gassers can be built to produce low end torque, used cummins are becoming more available and millions of ft/lbs of torque will only be as powerful as your drivetrain. if you decide to go jcbdiesel cool, lets us here how it works for you it may be the better way to go. if an opinion that may inlclude gas engines is hurtful or dangerous i wont share anymore info with yall. perhaps you could share what kind of hp, torque, engine weight, size and other info on what it is you are looking for. ANY IDEAS 70'S GUY?

Cody,
when you talk to a bunch of diesel bigots you have to be careful about what you say. you are treading on thin ice. they live in a tiny world filled with obnoxious fumes and rattling lifters.

if anyone shows them information that doesn't jive with their preconcieved "diesels are the best" ideas, their hairs stand on end, faces go ballistic, start snorting out their nostrals and pawing the ground looking for a fight...

that being said, a chev?!? <spit, hork, puke> get real,

an old dodge 318, 383,440, 426, now those were engines...
;^)

Interesting...

That engine was designed by "Ricardo plc" as in "Sir Harry Ricardo" as in "Ricardo Comet Mk IV" which is the unique injection principal that the 3B uses. You'd have to be knighted to use leather in a diesel engine.

He he he... aw come on I was just havin a little fun. Not enough smileyfaces I guess.
Greg's post was obviously not about a REAL option for Peter to repower the behemoth, although I do know better than to underestimate Peter. The post was more WOW.. look what they did with diesel.
Wayne is right about us Diesel bigots.
I hereby sentence both Cody and Wayne to 50 lashings with a 3B fanbelt for desecrating the Diesel and 24volt forum by using the letter V and number 8 too close together. I'll let those evil 3 digit number combinations slide...this time.
And Wayne.. Diesels ARE the best!
Peace!

yes, diesel is the best BUT to some of us gassers are still good to excellent...

my apologies i must have forgotten i ventured from the 60's section. maybe just reminding people to upgrade transmissions driveshafts and axle shafts when they leave the land of those sissy little gassers will better prepare them for the real grunt of a diesel that we crave.

i bet there is a few of us who didnt appreciate diesels so much until they put up with a gasser long enough to understand and hate them. if i hadnt put up with gassers for a while whos to say i would like diesels if i had nothing to compare them to. to tell someone the best engine you can get is a big super diesel motor is right and wrong. like telling a noob to build a jet fighter before the model airplane. sure a jet fighter is better, a lot of the build around a big diesel engine is more advanced level especially with high torque engines and i dont imagine as simple as ordering something off a web site.( like the dodge power wagon not having the cummins option because the rest of the truck is built for the torque from a gasser). a little much for a begginer with no mechanical experience whos just looking for a good cruiser. if they dealt with crap long enough and have honed their mechanical skills enough then maybe theyre ready for a diesel. id just hate to hear that the super trucks some one builds is for mall duty and cruising the strip instead of using the diesel to its potential.
