I have the gauge cluster out of my 8/75 FJ40 and went to start the truck to move it, and everything was dead. This must be a noob thing, I thought.

After a quick reading of a Prospero's Garage wiring diagram I realized power is through the amp meter.

Q: If I jump the WL and W ammeter wires together will I hurt (fry) anything ..?

Looks like it would be OK, but better to ask than to see that lovely smoke:smokin:

Thanks

:D

i have done that many times just make sure the bolt is tight and tape it .

Ok, great. Thanks SB1 !

Using the same power source for multiple things is not a problem as long as all the devices need power in all the exact same scenarios - if tied together you can't apply power to one and not the other. And you have to make sure that you don't overload your fuse when the devices are operated. Otherwise, I don't think there would be an issue.

You can safely connect those 2 wires and make sure to isolate them. If your cluster is out you don't have the gauges so if it's only for moving the truck a short distance it's no problem.

Good luck,

Rudi
