i have done searches on simple things such as engine cleaning preferences, and 1979 fj40 fuse box diagram, and am coming up with nothing for some reason. i go to the tech link and electrical section and cant seem to find what i am looking for. i need to see the 1979 fuse box cover. i have a haynes manual and the original owners manual and it doesnt show in either. please help thanks

nevermind found it

Well here's a photo from my 1979 anyway: (I believe the diesel and petrol versions should be the same but I'm not 100% sure.)

(Obtaining what you want by searching existing threads isn't always easy/successful.)

no they are not. but thanks for the pic

That's interesting - What's the difference?.....

I just did some searching and found evidence of 3 different OEM fuse-blocks. (At least they all seem to contain 8 fuses.)

1 2 3
15A tail Tail 15A 5A radio
15A stop-horn stop 20A 15A lighter
15A head lighter 20A 15A tail lamp
5A radio wiper 20A 15A headlamp
15A lighter heater 20A 15A stoplamp
15A engine turn 15A 20A turn signal/wiper
20A heater engine 15A 15A heater
20A turn-wiper headlamp 20A 10A engine

Edit - Ooops. There's supposed to be 3 separate columns above showing the 3 different fuse-block layouts. (Can't really fix it without spending a ridiculous amount of time in doing a drawing)

But there's probably more.

It would be interesting to run a thread asking for photos of the different fuse-block-covers with details of which forty-series cruisers they came from.
