I'm finally getting around to my alternator upgrade project, but can't get the original alternator out! Tensioner is removed and the pivot bolt is removed. Alt. pivots freely about the point where the pivot bolt was, but won't come out.

I understand that there is a bushing in the ear where the pivot bolt goes through. I suspect this is pushed into the alternator housing and not letting it slide out. Any suggestions?

I would like to resurrect this post and see what the answer is, since I’m dealing with this too. I’m seeing how to press the bushing without the alternator installed, but how does one move the bushing in order to remove the alt from the mounting bracket?

Edit, this is on a 60 series, but I assume the concept is similar (?)

Hahaha your hanging up on the sleeve aka bushing there is a sleeve that moves in and out and can sometimes be a pain to remove.

Just be gentle with it. I broke a ear off one by forcing it.

Lube helps.

Also when reinstalling move the bush using a long bolt and nut to make it easy to install
