Check our sticky section at the top of the forum "recommended land cruiser mechanics by state" . Id give one of them a call and see if they'll do it, and if they don't i know you'd definitly get a recommendation.

Torfab would definitly point you in the right direction (torfab.com). I know his shop is in Everette WA. Its common knowledge here thats hes one of the best. Hell, if he was 35 minutes away from me, id be there everyday :hillbilly:

They were recommended to me a few years ago for an alternator rebuild. I visited, and they were good guys. I ended up finding a used alternator for cheap so did that instead.

I might have my old alternator sitting in a bin at home (from after my swap). Engine was in great condition....I'm in Seattle too. if you're interested in that let me know....I'll look tonight when I get home (last time I saw it was pre-move) so its in some box somewhere. Not sure what a fair offer is, just make one if you're interested.

in Tacoma(ruston actually), Sound Starter and Alternator has always had a good rep, used them for a few things in the last 30 years, always been happy, very old school kinda place. I have a dying Mean Green alt I will be giving them to fix in a week or so.

but if in Seattle....a place in Ballard would probably be a winner.

its its not the alt but the regulator you can get those from toyota for $30

10+ years but only 15,000 miles. I am pretty sure a diode is going out. Started about a month ago, when cold(outside or overnight) it would not charge until it "warmed" up, then it was fine rest of day. But it finally crapped all the way out this weekend. I did make a new adapter harness using the GM alt harness from NAPA, I thought it may be possible the sensor wire was bad......but no dice.

So yeah.......I did order another MG(ebay $345 shipped) figured I would rebuild the old one and use it on the 82 fj40. I considered the 3fe swap as well as going back to OEM, but the 60 is wired up for the MG already.......and I could not find the OEM adjuster I took off....I looked for a good hour ;)

How long did your Mean Green last? Been wonderin about those.

Thanks all, I went with a rebuilt Denso from TOR as the alt in the 62 ended up being a non-Toyota. Thanks for the replies and good to know about the solid local shops for future needs!

Cheers!
