My 1988 62 was in for tranny/transfer case rebuild. When getting it put back together they said my alternator is not charging. Brake/AT Temp/Battery light are all lit up which seems to be consistent with diagnosis.

They sent it out to local specialist shop to be rebuilt (it is OEM) and shop said internal voltage regulator is bad as well but they found one. After rebuild it was reinstalled the same lights come on at idle, go away when driving/rev. Previously they were on all the time. Sent it back to alternator shop to deal with again and came back with exact same issue. It isn't charging and the three lights are on. Shop chased grounds and wiring and all seems good.

Shop is bringing someone else in to help diagnose that this is indeed still the alternator. That said, anyone have any other ideas of what to look into? Thanks.

As always- check the integrity of the fusible link. The contacts inside the plastic FL shell can/will corrode/burn which creates a poor electrical contact which influences everything downstream of it.
