While I'm in here messing with everything thought I might try and find the proper alternator bracket for my 10/70 and toss this make shift one.

4cruisers, your bracket is a 2f bracket; it won't work on the 1f unless you modify it. At that point, it's really not any different to what he has.

Upperblack, quit while you're ahead. The stock 1f bracket won't work on your 2f alternator.

Thanks for correcting me. I thought that it was the bracket I removed from my '71 FJ40, but my mind isn't as sharp now that I'm getting up there in years. And no, I wasn't quite old enough to have bought the '71 new :).

I would have been 10 if that makes you feel any better.

The 1f bracket does not have an arc; it is a straight bracket.

That's different than the one I pictured. I don't recall if it looks like the bracket on the F engine from the '69 FJ55 I parted out 15 or more years ago.

Look at post#63 in my swb resto thread in the 45 forum for pics of the 1f alt and brackets.

Mark, thanks for the constant education
Pulled this from your post #50. Oddly enough you can still get this bracket new from Toyota.
I may just have to leave well enough alone and just get the 71 put back together.

poser pic without belt because...bracket and alternator are not compatible. It's not the same alternator as in post 63. Pulley got changed too.
