Quick question. I am rebuilding my front locking hubs, because they wouldn't turn. What kind of MP grease do you guys use inside them? I have Mobil 1 synthetic grease, but watching PowerModz YouTube video on the rebuild he says something about not using grease, it is to thick or something and it got me confused. Here is his video.

Thanks

Manual has a picture with pointed areas where grease (any mp for me) goes, not saying to grease it to death but I did that, grease is free energy.
Metal to metal needs grease and I trust the video more than myself, but seems a bit off.
Mostly when they stick it is because the ring is broken or jumped out, just an easy repair if you follow the book, but sticky grease? maybe :meh:

don't over-tighten the last m6 bolts, bit more than hand tight, many people break them.

Didn't watch the video, but all manual locking hubs should be lightly greased, and not packed with grease. If you use your truck in very low temperatures, synthetic grease might be a good idea. But, just lightly apply grease to the sliding parts of the hub and you will be fine.

If you use too much grease it will bleed out through the seals in the summertime. Ask me how I know...

I used that red Mobil 1 grease for 30 years on my hubs. I serviced them roughy when the manual recommended (60K?). Used it on the front bearings too - but not in the knuckles because if the M1 grease gets in contact with any other grease, even the smallest amount - it will liquify
