I just bought my first air compressor. It's a 25 year old LaGrange that's sports a 20 amp/120 volt Baldor motor driving a newish 2 HP Champion pump. The tank is a horizontal 30 gallon that shows very light interior rust. It's welded onto a nicely fabbed cart. I think it's an OK deal for $225. My plan is to use it for air wrenches.
So my question is this: do I need a filter downstream from the tank? It had one that was leaking, so I tossed it. If you think it needs one, a specific brand/model recommendation would be appreciated.
