In my previous 100 series land cruiser i replaced the stock headunit rather easily with a sony touch screen unit and really enjoyed it. Im looking to do this now in my 2000 LX but there arent nearly as many choices for touch screen radios and im not sure why. It looks like its the exact same layout at the cruiser. Can anyone confirm if any land cruiser approved head unit would work in the LX?

A Sony XAV-AX1000 works just fine in my 99 LX.

The differences between a stereo install in my son's 2000 LC, and one in my 1999 LX:

1) You need a dash kit to reduce the LX dash opening to "double DIN". Something like this :

Amazon product ASIN B00RJ58JXO
2) (At least for the Nakamichi models) there wasn't a ready made harness adapter from the usual suspects. You "dice & splice" the OE harness, or you can build you own adapter::

Is your 2000 LX equipped with the ML stereo, or not?
