Has anyone used an aftermarket/generic glow plug relay for a 2H, if so what was used? My glow plug relay is bad and I need to find a replacement. The vehicle I am looking to replace it in is an 84 HJ47 Troopy with a 2H. The part number of my OEM relay is 28610-54080.

Thanks
Scott

Hi mate I will get you the name and picture of my aftermarket one in the morning it is in a 1984 hj47 ute

Thanks, trying to avoid the $200 price tag that an OEM would cost. There are some generic solenoids I could use locally, but I thought I would see what others have done.

Thanks Again
Scott

Hi mate my original one is 28610-54090 Nippon denso code 056700-5810 the one I am currently using is 28610-54080 Nippon denso code 182800-0773 so mine has been replaced with one out of a different model.

Thanks for checking for me, I saw that one in Australia, but after the cost of shipping I decided it wasn't worth it. I am currently working on a different solution, I'll post as soon as I get it all installed.

Thanks
Scott

You can use any 100Amp (4 wire) starter relay.
Something like this:

A friend of mine has this one (top right) in his '76 BJ40.

I found a glow plug solenoid that I thought would be perfect for a couple reasons. First, I liked that the solenoid had a similar mounting system as stock, and second, the application it was originally intended for was a heavy duty application which meant it should be very reliable. First picture is the part number and next the part itself.

On the HJ47 the solenoid is mounted on the side of the radiator support, and I wanted to use this same location since the wires were already in place. Since the mounting holes were narrower on the new solenoid I had to move the solenoid up a bolt hole and utilize the top radiator mounting bolt on top and the original mounting hole on bottom. The only problem with that was the 8mm bolt of the radiator mount was too big to fit through the new solenoid mount so I had to enlarge the hole to 5/16 to allow the bolt to fit.

So to fix a couple of wiring issues, first I had to enlarge the wiring ring connectors to fit the new poles of the new solenoid, and second I used the original solenoid wiring so I could use the original connector.

The final product was a solenoid that was far cheaper than stock at $35 instead of $235, and stock functionality and location. Hope this helps someone down the line.

Don't know if this thread is still alive, but I have an '82 2H (12v) and needed to replace the glow plug relay (my part no is 28610-68010). My local factors have sent me a Huco relay (part no 13 2053). Is there a way to wire it to work the same way?

G B S. Explaination in link below, (sorry using Phone,)

"the S terminal is truly unconnected"

They suggest 24V cruisers DO have internal wiring connected to their S terminals!

So small wires to small should connect big G/B?
Easy test with 12v + (86) and - (85) (b/w?) to small wires should connect G/B (30 + in, 87 +out)

better diagram :
Other numbers: small - to 2, small + to 3
Big + in to 1, big + out to 5

6 to a controller Light, nice!
4 possible to starter /afterglow/other box

Or see what you measure when ignition is on. Check the small wires to determine the body side of + and -
