You definatly helped me out with those fenders Larry. Can't thank you enough!!!!

So I was looking at it today on the hoist and noticed the driver side is sitting low in the front on the drivers side. I started to look at the leafs and shackle angles etc and noticed the rear shackle angles aren't parallel to each other. As if the rh rear spring pack is higher lift than the lh rear causing the nose to dive on the lh front. Easily fixable to get the truck leveled up. I will address this when I am doing my SOA.

Hard to see in the photo but in person there is a noticeable un parrallness to the rear shackles. Also the cab mounts might not be helping as they are shot!!!

I got it insured and registered today :) I won't be driving it (only to bring it home like 5blocks) but wanted it insured non-the-less.

I am leaning towards a deck with flip out sides and gate. Also have some tool boxes and storage units underneath it leaving the top section open. Plans could change thou as I like the look of a box better. Comes down to looks vs. function. It will be sprung over and rolling on a 35in tire.

I got a spare bezel if you want one.

That would be great, tell me a price and we'll figure something out for sure. I was gonna hunt for one in Kamloops the next time I was there.

Also looking for a cleaner front bib as mine is pretty done around the hinge area. I can probably repair it thou. Also missing the lh side apron emblem but that really isn't priority for me. lol

PM me your particulars and I will throw it on the bus, yours for the shipping.

So the PO had the rockers and some other panels made up in some nice heavy sheetmetal. I did a test fit and they will work perfect to patch the exterior of the cab. Not gonna hide anything so cab is still coming off and being sandblasted.

The front fenders are courtesy of Hofflar. And still can't thank him enough :)

The roof panel came with the truck also from the PO. It's in really good shape minus the lil tweak in the center of the front.

I got a complete 78 front disc brake front axle assy with the 45 also. And I am assuming these are the parts needed to rebuild the birfields and some brake pads also. I know nothing about birfields but gonna find out, lol

So I drove :steer: the 45 home today. Suprisingly it drove quite well and solid. I only drove it the approx. 5-6 blocks from work to house and yes it was insured just had open headers and no box is all... lol Got a few looks, haha

My home shop/garage is alil confined since my Bronco and dirtbike are in it but will work out for what I need to do on the 45. Starting tonight to take the doors/roof and other body panels. Now the real teardown begins as it isn't going to be mobile for very long.

So my GF and I tore into the beast today. Faired not to badly for a few hours of work. Suprisingly everything is coming apart nicely, fingers crossed when it comes to the rest. The bib is gonna take some metal magic if I don't straight up replace it but we'll see...

These 45's look soooo wicked with the top/doors off and windshield down. I found a new love for it. Amped up again!!! Whoo-hoo

To be honest the bib looks like it could be fixed. If you decide on a tray back I'm going to watch your build because in the near future I'm thinking the same. I would like to have one in my landscaping company for light work? Also if you paint it are you going to use code 416 which I believe is the original color beige.

I am almost 99% that I am doing some kind of tray back system with built in toolboxs and flip down sides while still creating a wheelwell also to look like a box. It's in my head right now and think it would be awesome!! Especially since the frame has already been shortened 18in's so less overhang when 4x4'n.

The original colour definatly is the beige/tan colour which I do really like. I however really like and have always wanted a green vehicle and am taking a fondness to the less popular Olive Green factory colour. So still up in the air on colour.

As for the sealer coat after sandblasting I am not sure if I am gonna use POR15 or a straight up Epoxy sealer. I am gonna be POR15ing the frame and topcoating that in gloss or satin black after needed repairs are done. For cost effectiveness it might be easier to do a POR15 sealer on everything then a primer over that for the body parts after they are repaired.

Either way I have a lot of time to make the right choices cause I am still in tear down. And trying to source a local sandblaster :bang:

Oh and since I got given a Warn 8274 with it and currently own a second 8274 I will be using the front bumper and rear bumper and winch mount setup it currently has. So this being said when I build a tray back style box for it it won't be a true flat top... More of a utility box idea. Funtion, style and just plain cool is what I'm thinking.

A 8274 front and rear is overkill (so is a PTO and 9000) hahaha, but this is the exact same setup the original builder of the bumpers and winch mount had and used. When I saw bought this truck it had a North West Territories license plate on it. Live in the scagg and survived. He also shortened the frame because as I was told he was always getting stuck or hung up on stuff. Dude had a plan and I am building it to follow suit plus a lil extra. :bounce:

Also apparently had a 383 stroker prior to the Olds 307 that it currently has.

Yeah, two winches is getting my vote!! Sound like your truck was and will be a bit of a weapon. If I ever finish my build, the next on will probably will be a purpose built trail rig. A shorter chassis would be awesome for a trail rig.
