After 18yrs I got me another FJ45 :-)

Keep an eye in the 45 and the 40 classified sections. Good OEM used parts from down south come up frequently. As long as you are not in a rush you could find mudshipping. There are also after market body parts available from various vendors on this site, but no one says the are as good as OEM.

There is 4wheel auto in Edm. that is usually good for smallish parts, and I have had good luck with the smaller items also from EBI in Vancouver area.

Welcome bro.

Nice find. Where did the truck come from originally?

I don't think it is a Canadian model as there are no side window heater ducts.

Put me down for a 45 run too.

I am not sure if it was a Canadian truck, it is in miles but I just thought it was old, lol The truck did spend some of it's life in the NWT... I am assuming that because it had a NWT license plate on the front when I got it. What do you mean by vents

Thanks 45kevin for the guidance to start finding parts :)

A 77 will not have the side window heat ducts. That started in 78. Also the speedometer should be in miles primary and KMs secondary as I have also found that the opposite started in 78 as well.

Anybody know where the best place in the Edmonton area is to buy parts and stuff for our Cruizers? Looking for some body panels mainly and all new suspension/steering stuff.

I've heard 4wheel auto in Edmonton is big for Cruiser parts, but also expensive. I have not had to get anything from them so I don't know personally. I would try them for suspension stuff.

As for body parts, I don't rally know. All I know is that shipping from the US is a bummer. I got a new (used) bumper from a fellow Mudder and the bumper was $150 and shipping was $50 if I remember corretly. Larger parts would probably be more. Try to find a donor 40 if you can. You see them every so often on Kijiji.

I have a pair of aftermarket fenders I got with my truck too if you'd want them.

I went on the 4wheelauto website and didn't really have alot. Some stuff for sure thou. I am going to try and find stuff more BC/AB area just cause of shipping charges possibly killing me. I go to Kamloops alot due to my daughter living there so I travel alot. Hopefully I can find stuff...

How much for the fenders? Do you not need them?

So just thought I'd let ya all know that I got the Old's 307 V8 that's in it running today. I did alot of pre prepping the engine before turning the key on a engine that hasn't been run in opprox 7yrs.

Had to change the fuel pump and filter plus new gas also. Plus treated the engine chambers. I also found out that my clutch slave cylinder was seized open not letting the clutch engage. I ordered a new slave cyl from Napa for 27 bucks. So I should be able to drive this in and out of the shop in the next couple days :)

Motor ran like a top and sounded amazing. Oil pressure was 39psi at idle and engine cold. Maybe dropped a pound when it warmed up. Temp guage didn't work but not leaking and coolant looked great. Discovered it has a Centerforce clutch in it also.

I'll keep you all posted as I progress with more pics also. Next to go is the "factory" wooden box on it... lol Should make a good bonfire.

You should have the frame sand blasted or dipped before making the repairs. Then after you make the repairs have the whole frame galvanized. With the salt up there this seems like the smart thing to do. Good luck w your new project. Just be sure to think it all thru before tearing it all apart. Huge job and I have seen too many projects in boxes that were never finished. Not speaking from experience here ;).

I appreciate the concern about tearing into it and getting over my head. I use to own a auto body shop that I owner/operated and am now a journeyman mechanic with alot of hot rod style and resto experience. I definatly won't let this project die :)

Definatly would be a great idea to get this frame blasted as well as almost any decent body panel before repairs. I will most likely do the dip treatment. Apparently in Edm there is a place that does it. However before all this can take place I need to remove the attempted repair work done to the frame. Never thought of galvanizing thou. Hmmm

I couldn't find a dipper in Edmonton a couple years ago, but maybe there is now, something about keeping the tanks heated and stuff....

So just incase anybody is wondering my handle "BRO460"... It is cause I have this bad boy that I built and it has a Ford 468ci engine and 1tons. I know this is a Toyota forum but I have Ford heritage, lol Now I have a Toyota FJ45 with a Chevy small block... haha Spreading my wings I suppose.

I will be working on the cruiser and have some more details and pics coming this weekend. I have 4 days off so a lot should get done hopefully. Keep ya posted :)

You can have them with the caveat that you use them on your rig. I don't need them as my fenders are in great shape with only a little of rust around the signal lights. These fenders are aftermarket as I mentioned.

They are not exactly the same as the OEM, but I don't think anyone will notice unless you compare them side by side. The main difference I found was on the lip under the fender. The OEM lip is much smother, whereas the aftermarket ones seem more pieced together.

I also have no idea of what the fit is like, but from what I have been told is that they were purchased quite some time ago so maybe the are better quality than what you can get now.

It looks like one has a bit of a dent as well.

Hi Hofflar, thank you very much for the fenders. That means I accept the conditions and they will definatly be used on my 45, promise :) So how would I end up getting these from ya?

Tommorrow I get my clutch slave cylinder, gonna get it driving after work tomorrow them I can stop bugging the guys at work to help push it in/out, lol For a lil truck it sure is heavy.

Bronco 468
I just sold a canadian f100 4x4 of 1978 vintage. To be honest wish I kept her but the wife was not impressed with the fuel consumption with the Cleveland 351 4 speed so your 468 must drink some fuel. The fj45 is a very tough truck that will surprise you with there off road ability. If you plan on keeping this truck try and find a toyota 12ht deisel engine to save dollars on fuel for the long haul.

Hahaha, yup the Bronco is a bit of a fuel pig. It's a toy so for the times I do drive it I can deal with my unkown gas mileage and have fun.

I got a lot of work done last night on the 45. Removed the wooden box and front bumper. Also got the clutch working nicely. Found out I need to rebuild the carb as the 4 bbls are sticking open alil occasionaly. No biggie as I have a Edelbrock 600cfm I'm gonna throw on it. Couldn't help but do a burnout with the open headers. FUN!!!!! LOL

Here are some pics...

EXPOSED!!!

So I tore apart the interior and running boards today. Found some issues that are now making this a full blown cab off build. Gonna do it right and get the cab sandblasted and start from there. Also as for the frame, I am choosing to repair it and also ad some hidden reinforcments while I have the rear frame exposed. Here is some pics of what has been exposed...

These are the extra rims I got with it. 15x8's so gonna be recycled by getting sandblasted and painted them some 35's.

Sorry to see the rust but happy to hear your going rebuild her and looking forward to the photos of the rebuild.
Cheers
