AFE Filters (1 Viewer)

I was at local dealer yesterday and asked the parts guy about getting a TRD filter for my 80, he checked and didn't have any in stock, but he mentioned that they also sell AFE filters and that AFE makes the TRD filters for them. . . Said that they're also usually about 20% cheaper.

He said that they're basically the same filter, re-usable, high-flow, etc..

Anybody hear this before?

Looks like same material like the K & N filter to me.

It is the same materials, K&N uses red oiled cotton w/ black rubber gasket material. The TRD filter has the same colors and has the little AFE airlflow dashes on it.

I thought that some have blamed the high flow filters like K&N for burnt out O2 sensors. Would these be the same or is sticking with OEM filter better?

I got this TRD filter from an eBay auction. Brand new, box says TRD High Performce air filter, it has TRD embossed on the red rubber top/bottom. It looks more like the K&N filter. Box has a price sticker from Toyota dealer of $62.00. I paid $30.00 at the eBay auction.
