Hello everybody

i hope you are all fine, during this scary time.

I am from the south of France, and it is an impossible mission to find a known specialist of Japanese V8, so i would like to know what do you think about the parameters of my engine, knowing that i use 1/3 of 98 and 2/3 of E85, without flexfuel box. It is a 2001 with 275 000 kms. Do i have to do anything in preventive for the engine, arrived at this number of kilometers ?

Thanks a lot

Jacques

E85, you may want to look at @J1000 ’s thread

At 275,000 km, you should be approaching your 2nd timing belt change (90k mi service.)

The plastic heater “T”s are another item to check, as they get brittle with age, and can have catastrophic results if they fail.

Ok, the timing belt has been changed and thanks to a member of this forum who explain to me about the Heater T, which are changed too.

And thanks for the interessant link

I'd buy and carry a spare coil pack with you in case one of them fails. At that # of KM's is when people start having one or two fail.

If spark plugs haven't been replaced I'd do that. Everything else is pretty typical - regular oil changes, coolant flushes, and just check the valve cover gaskets aren't leaking.

Spark plugs (iridium) are regulary replaced, but effectvely i have to buy spare coil pack, and no leak for yet !!

Thanks

I'll second the idea of carrying a spare coil pack around with you. I did that based on advice from this forum and was able to help another guy with an LX get home from a trip earlier this year. I still keep one with me just in case.
