Hey Guys,

{{{EDIT: Changed plans. No longer going that direction.}}}

I'll be going through NM in mid-May and am looking for some not-too-challenging trails for my 100. Planning to spend some time around Silver City. Does anyone know of some fun trails close by?

Thanks,
Matt

I agree with t Tim. Gila is unique in the west as it is a deciduous Forrest. Lots of steep hills. Lots of artifacts from the Mimbres people there. Worth looking around even if you don't care about Billy the Kidd. If you like hot salsa stop in at the Jalisco Cafe in Silver City. Really hot, but we couldn't leave it alone. Home made chips too. I was interning at the hospital there and they had surprisingly good food. It's open to the public if you want to give it a try. Cheap. Big copper mine south of town. In today's economy it's probably closed. If you like rocks search for areas around there. Lots of deer and mountain lion in the area. Some Mexican wolves.
