My seat moves from side to side more than I’d like.
The seat frame is secure and the bolts holding the seat track onto the bottom of the seat are snug.
The play appears to be from the sliding seat track mechanism.
Has anyone ever fixed this and if so would you share your wisdom with me please?

I don't think I've ever seen this. Those tracks are pretty robust. It might be worthwhile taking the seat out, and removing the tracks to see where exactly the slop is. The seats are light, and easy to remove. Plus it's a good opportunity to clean all the french fries and gum wrappers stuffed beside the console and seat. Just kidding....

I’ll give it a shot. I can only assume that the locking mechanism is warn down somehow or some type of plastic guide inside the track has worn down.

Ok...found it.
I ride with the seat all the way back. My bet is that the previous owners did the same.
After 240,000 miles the rearmost hole where the seat adjust locking pin sits is worn. If I move the seat one click forward it goes away.
It’ll go on my “fix when I run out of other things to fix” list.
Thanks and cheers
