Nissan Adventures in my 2016 Y61 patrol (1 Viewer)

This is my 2016 Y61 patrol, 4.8L I6, Beige Ext./Grey cloth Interior, 5 spd manual, manual front/rear ac, diff lock, sunroof & cool box.


I got it as a replacement for my 5 year old 200 series thats clocked over 200k kms.
I'll be documenting my journey with it here.

Took a desert run after the rain to give it a test through the dunes and to get accustomed to it, lots of fun but didn't take a long or technical route as I was going solo.

I wanted something much more basic and with a proper manual transmission that's why I didn't want to go again with another 200, the 70 costs more than the patrol but provides much less features. Locally you can only get the 70 with the 4.0L, I can get the turbo diesel but the warranty won't be covered with the dealer but with an outside specialist.

Took another mild trip out in the desert coupled with a few big dunes, a friend recently purchased a GMC Sierra so we wanted to test it out and see how well it'll perform.

Once we made our way down we headed to a nearby archelogical centre nestled in the desert between the mountains for a coffee and to enjoy the sunset.

Before summer and 50'c heat hits us I decided to take a little trip through the wadi's (dry river beds) and mountains.

The short trip stretched out to 3+ hours as some of the tracks were badly damaged from heavy rain the past month.

Picked up a stray bottle, these are extremely sharp and hardened bottles and slice through tires like butter. Luckily it didn't go deep enough to puncture the tire.

Lots of plants popped up after the recent rain and some areas had some small pools of water, the weather and landscape was simply beautiful a nice change from the desert.

One of the areas where the track was washed out a bit, other areas were worse than this, ruts and loose rocks make for an interesting climb on a steep hill.

1.5 hours were spent crossing large distance where the tracks were maintained, the others lead away from the odd farms in the mountains towards a gas line rarely used as there was a new service road that runs parallel to pipeline. The other tracks took much longer due to their condition and were mainly steep climbs and decent that took you up and around the mountains. Also I accidently closed the tab on my phone for Google maps and there was no cell coverage in most the areas here so when I opened it up again it wouldn't load the maps up, so at a couple of T-junctions had to really step out and take time deciding where to turn.

The final stretch heading back to civilization, it was a lot of fun and I'm surprised of some of the areas I went through without sustaining any impacts underneath patrol.

Beautiful weather and beautiful landscape but I'll never go that deep through the mountains again alone .

Congrats!! Having grown up with Patrols, miss them dearly. My dad still has a Y60 to this day. I wish I could drive a NISMO Patrol instead of my 200.

What is the local price difference between the Y61 and the new y62 Patrol?

The Y62 V6 starts at $49,320 and goes up to $70,570 (4 variants)

The V8 starts at $71,660 and goes up to $91,000 (3 variants)

And the Nismo goes for a stupendous $106,540...

I got my Y61 for $45,500 where as list price was $49,000. The new super safari is close to $54,000.

The SWB version is also available which is slightly cheaper.

Yeah but the $49k Y62 is the entry level "poverty" spec with halogen lights no infotainment screen and 4 speakers, the only additional options it'll have over the Y61 is TPMS, traction control, electronic brake distribution and hill decent.
