replacing rear mat. the foam underneath wad from prior resto and disgusting. I am thinking about using a thin dampener before putting in the new mat. my options are this, or do nothing and just add the mat to bed over paint. paint job is beautiful so I wanted to ask if there are risks in putting an adhesive over it? is this task not worth it? any opinions/experiences? thx kindly.

Wondering out loud here. These things are so noisy, will adding the dampener really make any appreciable difference? At least with just the cargo mat you don't risk damage to the paint and it is easy to clean .
