Last weekend, maybe a few sheets to the wind, I stumbled across a 200 series on eBay.

The car looked clean on the listing, but only had a few pictures. It was priced pretty well and had 50 inquiries pending.

After some Google-fu I triangulated the original owner and called him at 11PM, he was not expecting the call to say the least as he had his right hand actually list the car. After a good convo and a download of overzealous dealer records I hit buy it now. Thanks to iH8mud I found a local who gave it a once over and I flew down to Florida to get the car.

I picked up the truck today and am excited for the adventures to come. The 5.7 hauls, handling is tight, the build quality is evident and it was in better condition that I expected. It will compliment the 80 nicely and I plan to get another 100K out of it.

Here is a run down:

2008 Land Cruiser
Base Model + Nav - No cool box, window tint, wooden wheel or headlight washers
1 Owner Southern Truck - clean undercarriage
Records at Toyota every 5K miles
New starter in 2016
All new suspension in 2016
No cam tower leaks or rusty KDSS valves
169K miles

It's currently sitting in the Auto Train - I took it for a quick spin off pavement for the first time since it left Japan.

I saw this one listed on the local craigslist for a too good to be true price of $10,000. I figured the pics were stolen from somewhere and listed for a scam, but could never find out where. It is still listed here. 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser

like that autotrain part from sanford to lorton.. did that once with better half and she liked it..

congrats on the woot

Ha! Yep - that is the truck. The seller complained that scammers had put in on c-list.

Great story! Post up your deal in the classified, if able, we are tracking the market prices and giving woots!

Dude you stole that truck...congrats. Love the base model, although my lobbying for a Cruiser to the wife does include the cooler box. Since yours doesn't have it is the center console larger?

Ha, yup. I saw that listing on ebay too. That was a great price! And good to know it is a quality, well kept one too!

Phase one of the intense build out is complete. Behold the glory of 33" mild ATs. These are Cooper AT3s (rebranded as Adventurer A/T) from Pepboy's black friday - 275/70-18. Had 5 mounted for $730 OTD. Was looking for minimal road noise and a hint of capability - these fit the bill while the 80 covers the other end of the spectrum. The one addition I will be making is the factory spring spacers to boost the front end an inch or so.

Spacers came in and the center light to replace the aftermarket DVD player. I'm going to have to source the light bulb assembly as that is not part of the fixture itself but instead the roof wiring harness which has been cut... damn.

I get a kick thinking somewhere on a Japanese factory floor someone is tasked with writing out in white out pen...

Any pics of what your dealing with? How rough was access to the harness?
