As many of you know I installed a new 1HDT in my 80 recently and finally got it finished up and running after many, many delays- some related some not. ANYWAY, I fired it up and was pleased at how easy it was to bleed the air out the fuel system. While checkiing for the usual leaks after an install like this I noticed that the ACSD was pissing fuel through the shaft. I visited my friends down at Surrey Diesel and he was familiar w/ that setup. Heprovided me w/ a couple of new O-rings and a blanking plate off of a Volkswagon actually. I removed the ACSD connected the 2 coolant hoses together and put on the blanking plate and new O-ring. Problem solved! There is no cold starting issues either, I just advance the throttle a little.

I have some bugs to work out but so far am very happy w/ the new engine and new injectors. I do have a strange rubbing/ clicking noise coming from the fan area. I thought it might be belts but they're new and spraying soapy water on them does nothing. It's also too loud to be that- it almost dominates the clacking diesel (these engines are fairly quiet- I'm amazed!)

That's it for now.
Cheers!

New engine or new to you? I was thinking maybe the fan is hitting the shroud or maybe a water pump needs replacing.
Does it speed up with the rpm?

Good to see there are other blanking plates out there that fit. You can also use the blanking plate off a 1HZ as it does not have the ACSD but uses the same housing.

I installed a factory new short block, rebuilt head and new injectors. I'm going to try to isolate the noise by removing the belts.

The Denso injector pumps are apparently manufactured under license from Robert Bosch which is why the blanking plates fit. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Yes, we have a couple, including the o-ring and screws.

I'm gonna have to visit those guys at Surrey diesel, and check out the bench for setting the dual crack pressures for the 1HD-T. They sound like heads up guys.

Nice to hear about your cold start too. Looks to be a real pain to get the AXSD off while the engine is in the truck (on HDJ81's anyway).

They are amazingly quiet eh...
