Has anyone removed or bypassed the AC on their FJ60? Mine is non-op and the pump is making a lot of noise. I was wondering if it is as easy as bypassing it with a shorter belt or does the pump need to be removed/replaced/compensated for..?

On the Toyota systems w/ low mount compressor, the belt only drives the AC and can just be removed. On the aftermarket systems w/ high mount compressor, the compressor & bracket can be removed and a stock alternator bracket reinstalled. Then use stock 81-87 2F nonAC alternator & PS belt.

So if I have the AC pump that rides below my alternator, I can just disconnect/cut off the belt with no ill effects?

Yes...

Interested in getting rid of the hoses???

I need to make a hybrid set of hoses for my 5.0 conversion.
