How do you disconnect the lines safely? The nuts come off relatively easy but getting them apart is a pain, I'm afraid I'll bend the thin metal.. Any tips? I tried a little heat.

The AC fittings have O ring seals and should just pull apart with a little effort and twisting. I've never had a AC line that was frozen due to rust or corrosion, but we don't see snow and road salt either...
Just pull and twist it out.

Soak it with PB Blaster or similar. The aluminum gets s***ty and the O ring stiff.
After soaking for a couple days, gently wiggle and twist.
It's what i had to do.
