Just a heads up on what I found out when the AC clutch would not engage after head gasket job.
A.c. was perfect before head work.
Freon was ok. Added 1/2 pound to bring to spec.
Fuses were ok.
Hi/low pressure switch tested ok.
Relays behind glove box tested ok.
Coolant temp switch under intake manifold not ok.
Simply disconnecting the wire to that switch allows the clutch to engage. Must have got bumped/broke/toasted during the head gasket job. Collateral damage!
If I understand, that switch is a safety to shut down the a.c. in case of overheating.
At this point I'll run without it.... are there any reasons to be concerned with out it? Besides the overheating cut out?
Easy thing to check out when the a.c. clutch is not working but should be.
