Anyone have any thoughts on best way to repair?

I was thinking of bending some thin aluminum flashing and
gluing (contact cement) it to the underside of the plastic to reinforce. Build up
the area of missing pieces with Plastic JB weld?

Or fiberglass it, I just don’t know how to use fiberglass and not sure if it will melt the plastic?

Interesting yours is black plastic? What year is your 80? Maybe the black is of better quality?

Also interesting no one on Mud is talking about this topic.

I've had good results repairing ABS panels on motorcycles using fiberglass mesh or mat with epoxy resin. I usually try to scuff the plastic to give the epoxy more bite, and drill out the ends of any cracks. I usually brush on some epoxy, lay the fiberglass into the wet epoxy, then dab more epoxy into the fiberglass using the brush while working out any air bubbles.

Mine's a '94.
