Hey there all. My 'T-belt' light went on yesterday and so I decided not to drive it until I can get it checked out, et cetera. Can anyone recommend a good and reasonable place to get it done?
I don't have a manual so I'm not confident to do it myself.

How do you know then when there is a real problem with the timeing belt other than the obvious noises?
Your saying that the t-belt display and alarm is on a timer set to go off after a certain K? I don't think that it would be 109,000, would it?
I would love some further input o this because I don't even want to drive it a foot if there is an off chance that I could be damaging things, such as my wallet!

It's fine to operate your rig with the timingbelt-light on.
It's just a reminder that the belt is due to be replaced and not an indication that something is wrong with it. As a matter of fact this timingbelt light doesn't say anything about the timingbelt.
Odd isn't it? All the light indicates is that a certain amount of kilometers (100.000) (miles) have been driven since the light was reset for the last time.
So, yes, you'll have to replace the timing belt
No, no need to hurry, do it within the next few thousand kilometers or so
So yes, make sure the timing light is reset as soon as the belt is replaced.

As you can read above, yes it goes on after the odometer has registered a certain amount of K's

To my knowledge it's 100.000k's

I can imagen that. If the belt gives up y're in biiiigggg trouble, as is your wallet!!

But don't worry. Drive your rig, but replace a soon as practicable.

Since I've no idea where you live I cannot give any advise about a good mechanic to do this (fairly simple) job for you.

the guys are right you have plenty of time left i have done a few myself. you are in LADNER. give Japanoid a call on 12 street in NewWestmister they have a repudable shop. GEEZE i would even help you
aaron
p.s the sooner the better because it could go bang! play it safe

So the problem ended up being my alternator. T-belt's fine.
I did take it to Japanoid and $510 bucks later (ouch), two new belts and an alternator, its running like a charm.
I am selling it now though, so if anyone is looking I am selling it for $9200.00.
Cheers,
John

Huh?
I can understand that there was something wrong with your alternator. This could make the T-belt light to go on.
But your rig did 100.000 k's so it's time for the belt.
If you repair the alternator and the T-belt light goes out by itself? fine. But I just hope for the sake of the future owner the light was not cancelled by hand (reset).
