How do you know then when there is a real problem with the timeing belt other than the obvious noises?
It's fine to operate your rig with the timingbelt-light on.
It's just a reminder that the belt is due to be replaced and not an indication that something is wrong with it. As a matter of fact this timingbelt light doesn't say anything about the timingbelt.
Odd isn't it? All the light indicates is that a certain amount of kilometers (100.000) (miles) have been driven since the light was reset for the last time.
So, yes, you'll have to replace the timing belt
No, no need to hurry, do it within the next few thousand kilometers or so
So yes, make sure the timing light is reset as soon as the belt is replaced.
Your saying that the t-belt display and alarm is on a timer set to go off after a certain K?
As you can read above, yes it goes on after the odometer has registered a certain amount of K's
I don't think that it would be 109,000, would it?
To my knowledge it's 100.000k's
I would love some further input o this because I don't even want to drive it a foot if there is an off chance that I could be damaging things, such as my wallet!
I can imagen that. If the belt gives up y're in biiiigggg trouble, as is your wallet!!
But don't worry. Drive your rig, but replace a soon as practicable.
Since I've no idea where you live I cannot give any advise about a good mechanic to do this (fairly simple) job for you.
