Hey there folks.
I recently bought a JDM HDJ81 Turbo Diesel 1992 with the A442F transmission with cruise control. It doesn't have the ECT button on the dash. My problem, is that the transmission seems to shift a little funny. From 1-2 is good, and 2-3 is pretty good. However, it seems like the gear spacing between 1-2 and 2-3 is very close. The main issue I'm having is the shift from 3-4th. It is a pretty large rpm gap, and almost feels like it is shifting briefly into 4th, and then overdrive. Or something like that. If I am going up a hill and it shifts into 4th, the RPM's are so low that it bogs down and slows down until it shifts back into 3rd. I just did a transmission flush, and it did improve a little (the fluid was pretty dark). But it is still there. I am not much of an automatic transmission guy. Most of my rigs have been manual transmissions. I'm not sure if I have a worn valve body, worn torque converter, or something else. I have not replaced the filter yet, so I will get to that soon. But I'm not sure if it will help. Any thoughts would be welcome, and any guidance on how I can diagnose this thing would be great.
Thank you all.
