I'm trying to verify the model years for this xmsn. When I check VINs on Nov 94, Jan 95, Jul 95 and random 96 (unknown prod date) Toyota tells me that

35000-60440 (replacing 30030-60440; 35000-60390 is also listed for the 95 Land Cruiser only, but as DISCONTINUED)
was used in the 93, 94 & 95 Land Cruisers (to Jan 95, but is listed for the Jul 95 model)
35000-60540
was only used in the 95 Land Cruiser (to Mar 96)
35010-60541-84 is listed as DISCONTINUED, but replaced 35000-60541
35000-60540
was used in the 96 Land Cruiser (to Mar 96)

When I check the VIN on a Mar 96 LX450 and a May 2000 LX470, Lexus tells me that

35000-60540
was only used in the 96 LX450
35010-60541-84 (replacing 35000-60541)
was used in the 96 & 97 LX450
35010-60840-84 (replacing 35000-60840)
was only used in the 2000 LX470 (from Mar 98)

These should all be A343F, if the anecdotal evidence is to be believed. What's the difference?

The exception is the 93-94 which should be A442F, and therefore a different part number, but I realize that Toyota may have elected to provide only A343Fs for the 93-94 model years as replacements.

You can’t easily switch between the A442 and A343 transmissions. Toyota would not replace one with the other. Likely they’re just superseded part numbers if they don’t seem to match up

90-92: A440

93-94: A442

95-97 FZJ80/LX450: A343

98-02 UZJ100/LX470: A343

You will find oddballs on the overlapping years occasionally. Like a 93 with a 1FZ and A442, but drum brakes and a semi float rear end. But overall, these are the general years and trannies.

The A343 between the 89’s and 100’s is slightly different, but they’re still A343’s.
