Hi Guys,

At our recent club meeting we discussed taking a holiday down south sometime this summer.

We are looking for an overnight or two wheeling trail that is less than a days drive from Calgary. So that would make it something north of Butte or in the Whitefish area. It doesn't have to be in the foothills or mountains in case there are good trails east of Great Falls. But we like a challenge so the trail would need a few harder sections.

I lurk in your forum and see you guys are widespread, and active wheelers.

We wouldn't mind joining up with you on a wheeling trip either.

So if any of you can throw out some suggestions, have at 'er.

Butte area has a number of trails. Boulder MT has a lot of shorter trails close to each other and isn't far from Butte. Any idea what time of year? As i'm sure your used to in Canada snow can really be a factor.

We can get into the foothills backcountry in May but the mountains often have snow well into July.
I would think a trip down south would be in a July to September time frame. Most likely on a long weekend.

Mid June or after is a safer bet as forest service has opened their roads. We would be of better help out of Bozeman.
