Bummer about the Dodge. Hope it doesn't hurt the pocket book too much.

Eagle Recovering,Towing, and repair in Cody saved our vacation with the tow and repair was just under $800. Fantastic bunch of guys and were on time with an upgraded heavy duty power steering gearbox.

After leaving Cody, WY we headed to the NE entrance to Yellowstone on the Chief Joesph Highway. It was the most scenic drive I’ve ever been on.

There were many long 7% grades which really worked my PACBrake. I was really thankful I had it. Barely needed to touch the brakes.

The Native American history in this area is truly amazing. I’m part Nez Perce or Blackfoot according to my grandma. In this valley the Nez Perce outwitted the US Army by using their horses and having them make tracks in every direction. By the time the US Army got here they couldn’t tell which way they went.

Cooke City, MT about the most remote city in the lower US. Only way in is from Wyoming on either side of town. The east side is closed in winter. The west is plowed from the N. entrance of Yellowstone into town. I’d love to have a place here.

After entering Yellowstone it was getting toward evening, the best time to view wildlife in the park. The Lamar Valley is the best location to try and see Grizzly or a Wolf.
We saw hundreds of Bison.

Saw both a Grizzly and Black Bear. I was so excited about the Griz that I forgot my phone. My wife had our camera though.

The views into Yellowstone Canyon that night were breathtaking.

Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep on the shear cliff across the canyon. One wrong move and it’s game over. The young lambs were running on it like it was nothing.

Don’t try this if your afraid of heights but I just couldn’t help myself.

A very happy Hojack family evening in Yellowstone.

Our next day was visiting Yellowstone Falls. Parking at the main attractions is a nightmare at peak times. Since we booked late all the spots in the Park were booked. We camped outside the park and had to venture in each day. A dodge dually and camper are not the easiest to park. The canyon day we parked at the Visitors Center and hiked on the trail to the Canyon. The canyon viewpoints are awesome.

The kids both enjoyed taking pictures.

Hike going down to the lower view point from inside the canyon is worth every step.

The hike out for those not acclimated to 7,000’ can be more challenging to get oxygen. Many people coming out were really winded and took it really slow.

But we took it in stride.

Panorama of Yellowstone Falls and canyon. Next was our trip to go see Old Faithful. We stopped to see other geysers, mud pots and fumaroles along the way.

A 6 point Bull Elk in velvet along Yellowstone Lake on the way to Old Faithful.

Our visit to Geyser Basin at Old Faithful was next. Because we stopped to see the Bull Elk along Yellowstone Lake we missed the eruption of Old Faithful by minutes. It erupts about every 90 minutes so it gave us time to ride the bikes and explore other geysers.

A local on Craigslist here in Portland, Oregon posts his custom built bumpers, slider, roof rack... you name it. @JHE4601 had his rear tire carrier and roof rack built by him. I’ve been gathering all the parts and wanted to build one myself. I bought the spindles, latches and D-Rings from Ruffstuff. I bought pop pins and the rear tire carrier from Trail Tailor. I was going to get his weld together bumper for $750 plus shipping. With all the time on the build this far I gave Nick at Adventure Fab a call. He told me he could build the rear tire carrier with dual swing and ladder for $1000. I jumped at the opportunity and loaded up the 60 and took it up to his house in Vancouver, Washington. He really liked how the 4BT and SOA swap turned out. I’m probably going to have him build me sliders also if he has enough time.

After dropping the 60 off took the kids and dog for a hike at Eagle Fern Park and hung out down at the creek.

Nick at Adventure Fab in Vancouver, WA has started my 60 rear bumper tire carrier and am so stoked. Decided to have him make me sliders since it’s there.

The rear tire carrier bumper is getting closer. Nick at Adventure Fab in Vancouver, Washington is doing a great job keeping me up to date and sending me pictures of the process.

Hopefully it’s all ready to go by Sunday.

You sure you want the tire that high? Looks like it could drop 4-6” before it starts impacting departure angle, and that’s a lot of potential visibility out the back. Craftsmanship looks great and the sliders will help getting into the roof basket.

The tire can go lower. He just sent me pics of setup.

He slightly tilted mine in to run the contour of the rear hatch. It’s a nice touch. That’s definitely a giant tire. Haha

This is how the rear tire came out of the box on the Trail Tailor tire carrier mount. I liked it more vertical.

Mine was way more suttle. Like I said it just followed the contour of the truck. Very suttke but it’s nice.
