I have an idea... I feel we need to show the world how awesome some of our 80's are. You know, how they can tear up trails and go through anything. I think that one of us that has: a beastly (big lift and tires), clean (not f'd up), overpowered (s/c or t/c), that has a lot of gizmos w/lockers, 80 that will just tear up trails with ease, send their rig (pics and info) to "Four Wheel" magazine to get the world to see how sick we are with our 80's! We need a voulunteer!... but then again, its just an idea.

Didn't Brian Williams try this a few years ago?

I'd love to do it. I just cannot afford to do it. Broken parts = mucho $$$$. The whole tank trap thing sort of freaks me out. Thinking of all that goop around my wonderful Toyota engine and tranny.

I was thinking the same thing - so many Chevys and Fords I get tired of seeing them. I think I've seen an 80 in one of those mags only once or twice, but never one with an article.

What I really would like to see is, instead of all this modified trucks in truck challenge they should have a stock or slightly modified competition (such as 33" aggressive tires and armor) and would love to see how the other (Hummers, Heeps, Rovers, etc.) do against a factory locked 80 series. Same applies to older 40/55/60 series, those poor bastards will be scanning the used truck market for cruisers.

I'm not talking about the challenge, I'm just talking about a simple mail in Pics of the Truck along with some info on it, so they can publish it in the Magazine ("Four Wheel"). No need for extra $$$ or wrecking the 80.

[/quote]screw that... who is going to take thier perfect 80 and F it up... mine is already fawked up :flipoff2: n......... i think the problem more 80s arent in that mags is this exact reason. not that many actually wheel thier rigs. not that many are super built, and not that many people are willing to rally the F out of them..... granted on this board lots of people wheel thiers, but compared to the genaral public ....... not many. i am all for raping mother earth and tearing up trails though.... PC..... :flipoff2:

Sickboy I know you're just being funny and this really isn't directed towards you, but this attitude is very concerning. It's because of people that really believe this that trails are closing. Given enough time it won't be legal to wheel anywhere.

Good I was just making sure. ;)

My favorite trail closure is when an area becomes closed for "environmental" reasons, and then 1 year later they build houses on it.

Now lets go tear it up in some wilderness designation before it becomes a shopping mall!!!
