Awesome shop! Dad of the year right there :)

@davegonz thanks! Boys definitely feel they own this. Their sweat and commitment made this happen. Makes me mighty proud. This has really helped them feel they can conquer bigger things. When broken down into bit size chunks, it feels possible. Even for me. Lol. I hope to get to my hj60 frame swap hiding under the tarp once I get the pony past body work.

Boys helped put together a sand blaster. Young guy started is project. 13hp go kart. Took his first steps in metal work. Went to the steel yard and bought metal. He cut it and built chassis. Great first welding. Also wrapped up sanding, primer touch up. Next up is filler on car and then high build primer. Big weekend for the boys.

We fixed roof rust with Dynaglass. Great stuff. Tough as steel.

Young guy went at it and cut up all pieces to get the rest of the frame/seat done. Getting real handy with the chop saw and mig welder. Gave me a fist bump when he was done. Priceless.

I had a professional welder buddy advise earplugs and safety glasses under the welding helmet. Not two days later I had a spark fly around under my helmet and land in my outer ear. I now heed that advice always.

@pjohnson, thanks for the advice. You can never have enough safety awareness and action. It is what we do before we start our work in the barn and throughout the day.

Milestone today. Hit 2k primer surfacer on the pony. We hit it hard this weekend. Worn out but proud. Great moment for us all. Came out great. Next is sanding at finer grit, one more round of 2k which will be sanded to 400 grit.

My young son also made progress on his go kart. He is getting to realize what it is to be a mechanical mind. We are converting this to a live axle rear. Change from the kit plan. He has done great with minimum instructions while we knocked out the pony. Beaming!

Awesome thread. I'm glad to see you are passing on all your knowledge and doing so with your sons. I wish I grew up like this! Good job having them in all the safety gear too.

Thanks. It has been a great journey. Boys have worked hard. Most rewarding thing I have done.
