Still one more day to go but I'm already beyond impressed with Outback Imports. Importing yourself and having everything glide smoothly seems to be a rare event.

  • My truck was not able to roll on roll off due to the slight over-height. This meant having to container the truck - cost absorbed by the importer. I'm not positive on the cost but would estimate min.$500-$700...
  • Customs then held up the show for two weeks. Cost to store a container $300/day (or close to it) - cost absorbed by the importer.
  • The delivery schedule had now passed the promised date of delivery. As I had planned a holiday, the importer offers to cover any rental costs (decent suv) so that I am not inconvenienced. I declined the generous offer knowing they are already eating a lot of expenses but that likely would have been another $500 bill.
  • The paint was deemed faded (acid rain suspected) though only the hood and roof were effected. The importer felt that re-painting only those areas would result in a mismatch so... they re-painted the entire truck!! (A fair sized expense to be sure) Cost absorbed by the importer.
  • I took advantage of a few upgrades as the importer includes an incredible service package so why not do this at the same time. A supplier sent an incorrect part so this will have to wait. The importer assures me they will call when the part is in for the upgrade, drive nearly two hours each way to pick up the truck at my work, install the correct part and then return the truck the following day. Time and cost absorbed by the importer.
On top of all of this, I have been kept informed and have been able to raise any number of questions and concerns along the way. As I mentioned, I still haven't even seen or driven this truck but Outback has blown me away with their incredible, seemingly impossible service. The least I can do is recommend them highly.

That's awesome! I know Marko runs a stellar outfit. Good for you to give him a prop.

That's the kind of testimony that's priceless to an importer. I'm not affiliated with Outback in any way, but I know that Marko is a stand up guy and goes to great lengths to make sure his customers are taken care of.

I'm going to link your thread to one that mentioned Outback in BC4x4 if you don't mind. Sometimes people don't understand what you pay an importer for, and I think your testimony is a great explanation of the benefits.

absolutely - I ended up choosing this route solely because of what I had read and learned on MUD. I had also used another importer in the past - was less money out of pocket but this was reflected in the mech. condition of the vehicle - by the time I'd chased down parts and a shop to do the work - would have been better off getting it all re&re'd apon arrival. No complaints though - it's the brokerage hassles and what if's that I don't want and am glad importers are there.

So yeah - I'm off to pick it up now and play with some other mudder's this weekend in Harrison - wahoo.

good call Stone, I thought of doing the same thing.

Picked up the truck Friday - wheeled all day Saturday with 4 80's around Harrison, booked it up to Hemlock for the night and in and around the Fraser trails Sunday..

WHAT A TRUCK. I can't possibly say enough about it. And I don't know how to express to anyone what a fantastic thorough job Outback does and how worthwile it has been to buy from them.

.. and to add to the list above; A few minor functions weren't operating but I mean minor - they will be taken care of. When I'd asked for a quick demo of the factory winch, we discovered someone had pinched it along the way from Japan! So a replacement winch is now going in also.

This has been the absolute best purchase experience I have ever had, period.

Cheers Outback.
