So far, I think I should carry:

    -small hammer
    -fuses
    -knife
    -adjustable wrench
    -lug nut wrench
    -screw drivers (both types)
    -pliers/vice grip
    -electrical tape
    -wire
    -sand paper
    -alligator clips
    -zip ties

    what am I missing?

I also carry a basic socket set w/spark plug socket, flashlight, wire strippers, extra bulbs, a 10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm and 19mm wrench, Extra set of plugs, points, condensor, an electric fuel pump w/ some hose, duct tape and JB weld. Don't forget a few quarts of oil and coolant. I like to know that I will get home. Always good to be prepared.

I carry pretty much everything mentioned above including a small
can of brake fluid, a bottle opener in case twist tops aren't
an option, and a $30 timing light.
