Been reading almost all threads concerning BEB replacement. Great info and writeup. Thanks for all who kindly contributed.

I have a few questions and appreciate your input/advice:

1- Is the FIPG sealant available usually from Toyota or it is a difficult-to-find item?
2- what's the appropriate way to apply the FIPG, do you :
a) assemble and torque the pan right away after applying the FIPG or/
b) Wait till it becomes tacky (how long roughly, if so?)
3- Do the new bearing come specified as Top or Bottom or are they identical?
4- Where to turn the crank shaft in order to bring the bearing down for replacement?

Pretty straight forward stuff, that FIPG:
1. Any Toy dealer....common item I'm told. I paid $20 a tube, invoice showed it as $25 'retail'.
2. directions on FIPG says assemble within 15 min of application, or some such thing. No mention of wait. Seems to be forgiving stuff, other than removal!
3. Mechanic proof as they only go one way.
4. Only one spot...bolt head on end of crank....can't remember, 32mm or thereabouts.

Caution: The above is from someone that has only used the stuff once! But no leaks after BEB job! ;)

Agree, but consider Ultra-blue or similar - for $7, from any where.
Squeeze it on, then fit it up.

I second the post on the blue silicone sealer (Hermatite in my case). There's nothing special about the Toyota stuff.

The bearings shells are identical and will fit either the rod or the cap.
