Checking to see if anyone knows if the A/C pressure switch is open to the A/C refrigerant line (i.e. I need to depressurize the A/C before installing) or can it be directly screwed onto the line? @red66toy do you remember when replacing yours? Thanks for your thoughts.

I swapped mine when the system was all taken apart. I believe the switch is inside the ac evap box under the dash so you need to empty the system anyways to get that out. It should be directly in contact with the gas in the line.
 
Thanks. That's what I thought. I have the lower ac housing off right now, but didn't want to release the r12 replacing the switch. Was hoping it might be connected to a Schrader valve.
