I found a '99 rear E-locker on craigslist and was wondering if anyone has put an E-locker in their later modeled(2000+) trucks or if it is even possible? ARB lockers are out of the budget for now. I've done a few searches and nothing has come up.

I don't think so. You have to switch housings to accommodate the actuator.

Is it the entire axle or just the carrier?

Yes it would work; you would need the entire 99 third member which the e-actuator is attached to.

The axle housings are different for sure. If it's just the e-locked differential it won't do 'ya.

If you have an entire '99 assembly you would also need to add or make controls for the motor.

At a minimum I think you need the housing, actuator, and differential +some controls and would likely want a full Hub-toHub assembly. Otherwise the ARB will be the cheaper route.

You can trim the housing. You need elocker and axle shafts. I've posted pic of what to trim and will post it later tonight.

Here's the pic of what to trim

Bamaheel - why the need for new axle shafts? I thought they were both 32 spline?

The shaft on one side of the one with the elocker (at least 1 side) is shorter than the other. I don't know this first hand but from research on here. There are some old threads on this.

The ad was just for the E locker and I knew more than that would be required I just didn't know how different the set ups were. Bummer I was hoping I had just come up with how to do a cheap yet effective locked rear end!

That picture is for retrofitting an 8" locker, not the 9.5". The 9.5" requires very minor grinding compared to the 8". You'll need a few longer studs and the passenger side axle shaft... the shaft could probably be sourced cheap enough through a salvage yard.

Has anyone done this? Also, do you have to take apart the innards of the diff itself?
