Ever since I arced my alternator changing my belt tensioner I've been having trouble starting my 1998 LC. I've done all the obvious things: replaced fusible links, replaced all fuses, alternator tested good, new battery, new crankshaft sensor, new ECU, new PCV valve and new MAF sensor. My main symptoms are no ability to jump the car, fuel smell in cabin while cranking and oil in throttle body after cranking. From what i've read, the cabin gas smell and oil in the intake are symptoms of a bad headgasket but I assure you the car was running fine before I sparked the alternator. What could be the cause of this? Has anyone heard of such a condition? I'm at a loss

Did you ground the B+ wire on the alternator (one with the 10 mm nut)? it will burn one of those 60A or 100 A busman fuse. Did you check those main fuses in the battery terminal fuse holder? The fuse is attached with 8 mm bolts.

Yes I touched the B+ wire with a wrench and it sparked very briefly. I've replaced the fuses in the positive terminal as well. One thing I've noticed that is out of spec is the magnetic clutch in the throttle control motor. According to FSM it's supposed to have an ohm reading of 4.2 to 5.2 but I'm getting 2.0. does this sound like it could be the culprit? It's an expensive fix so I don't want to just throw money at a problem that isn't relevant. I'm not familiar enough with this system to determine if this would cause a no start condition.
