I'm new on here. Just wondering if any of you guys may have had any ideas on places to find half doors for my runner? I'm trying to stay legal on the street and still be able to have fun.

All of the half doors I have seen for 4Runners and pickups have been custom made. You might be able to find a set of tube doors, or have some made locally by someone like Dr. Smash or Trent Fab. Really to be legal my understanding is that all you need are side mirrors, not doors. I have need a lot of people adapt motorcycle mirrors to their door hinges or front fenders for legality.

Thank you! I'm gonna have to look more at the laws for Nevada. My cousin in California told me that I couldn't go doorless because 4runners don't have the tub style body like jeeps or fj60s and for it to be legal in California you have to have a 4 or 6 inch lip on the bottom edge of the door. I will have to look into it.

Like Harry said, Nevada doesn't care. As long as you have mirrors, you are good to go. Not saying you won't get some looks, but there is no requirement to have doors. You see mini trucks, cherokees and pretty much every other trail truck driving around without doors.

Thank you guys very much! Now I'll just have to look into attaching some mirrors temporarily for this hot summer days!

FWIW, 40 years of at least summer doorless operation with no extra mirrors other than W/S and never been stopped or hassled for it. But my days of pushing the legality envelope are long over and so if I do get pulled over I'm not sweating the ticket. However, if I cause a crash and that's what get's me sited, then my insurance I'm sure will be quite displeased!

That being said, I like the semi convex mirrors that snap over you W/S rearview, and I do have a small spot mirror on a magnet on the top left of my W/S.

With an FJ40 you have great 360* field of vision, a 4 Runner, not sooo much. Do what's safe for you vehicle.
