I can pick up a 96 prerunner from pretty cheap and i was thinking of converting it to a 4x4. Then I got the idea that since I am going to have to replace the front axles anyways, why not a SAS? I have been around allot of Fords that have done this and with leaf springs, its not to hard. But besides adding a solid front axle I would have to get a tcase, 3 new D shafts, and allot of other little things.

So has anyone here done this, if so can you show your pics and tell me what to avoid. This is just an idea since I have not even got the truck but I would like to start planning ahead.

Thanks.

3 new driveshafts? I'm lost.

since the prerunner's pretty much the 4WD Taco minus the guts of the 4X4 hardware, I'd just follow somebody's SAS thread for any IFS pickup, and go from there.
