@Angeltech

Any updates on your issue, what you've done for diagnosis (?transmission solenoids, drive flange, ---)??

I am kind of confused about all the symptoms described here....but the sluggish acceleration on mine was a shift solenoid. Would take off fine in L but in D, felt like 2nd gear. Of course, that was after changing trans fluid, verifying correct level per FSM and adjusting the kick-down cable.

Maybe someone can also fill me in on why you would buy a JDM market 80 that's a 1FZ? Do you still get the cool ice maker? Or do you get car sick driving on the left side of the truck, so you want RHD? $25k seems like it should get you a pretty nice rig that doesn't need work within 6 hours.
You buy a JDM with a 1FZ if you like replacing head gaskets in RHD vehicles with interiors that smell like cigarettes.

Well that makes sense....I do love a truck with more ashtrays than cupholders.

Wouldn't put to much faith in the toyota dealer.
I have to agree to that, it took me an hour explaining to the parts guy that GL5 oil is not for the 94 manual transmission, because 5 comes after 4 in his thinking (and I use that word with caution) that 5 must be better!

Anyway, transfer boxes can cause symptoms similar to the OP but is normally associated with the same noise as a stripped drive flange. Check the gearbox oil, look for a pink yoghurt appearance, and of course in the radiator for a similar pink colour, the gearboxes are cooled by a cooler inside the radiator, this corrodes and you get a mixing of fluids, it could simply mean a new radiator, and a couple of flushes out of the gearbox.

Regards

Dave
