I needed to find my 4 ways the other night and couldn't due to age, infirmity, stupidity and the acceleration of same caused by driving two identical trucks routinely that have different yet hauntingly similar dashboards.

Is that switch supposed to be backlit at night? Please tell me it is 'cause I've put 156,000 miles on it and I remember it that way.....

DougM

Doug;

Well, couldn't sleep so I just ran out and gave it try; 0310 hrs.
With ignition on and lights out, no back light.

With ignition on and park light on, yes; the switch is lit with a with a small reddish triangle.

How's that for service?

...

I'm not as nice as DF but I recall mine lighting up, (the triangle part) on my '90, at least when the marker lights were on.

HTH's

Mot ;)

Yes it is backlit....but mine went out when I put the dash back together after replacing the dash lights... ;) go figure!

No.......LOL........we could not find that thing for s*** in the dark. turning the map light on does not help.

I don't think my '94 hazard switch is backlit.

DF,

Thanks, so it's supposed to be. Since all those switches pull out, it will be a 3 minute change out.

Regards,

DougM

OK... rather than start another lighting thread:

Is the gear indicator near the bottom of the shift knob backlit? I'm talking about the column of indicators between the seats, in front of the center console, with park through low indications.

I have to look at my dash at night, as it's not backlit. I can't remember if it's always been that way, but I kind of doubt it.

tech;

Yep, they are lit on my '94. Jeeze, now that Doug brought up thread are we going to have another Cdan hex on us?

Does anyone remember the thread on light bulbs and sizes and cost and where to get them? I haven't got enough coffee to figure this out.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall one of LX_TREME's posts listed a few of the bulbs.

I'd swear my '95 was backlit, but I looked last night and it wasn't. So, either it burned out, or it never was.

I would think.....

that "emergency flashers" would be lite, for easy locating. that said, mine is also out !

You know what's funny, reading this I realized I have no clue where the hazard switch is without going out to my rig to look.

It took a while to find it, mine is not lit. Maybe the light is burmed out.

Since we are on the subject of burned out bulbs, the antenna up/down switch on my 97 isn't backlit. Neither is the JDM fog light switch I just installed (assuming I wired it correctly).

How are the bulbs replaced? I haven't looked at the antenna switch but the fog light switch seems to be sealed pretty tight with no obvious (to me) way to change out a bulb.

Tom

when I got my 96 the hazzard light was not back lit. I replaced the burned out bulb along with several others and it is now.

all of the factory switches are baclit, you take the switch out and there will be a little circular price of plastic with a double crossed screwdriver slot on the side of the switch body. 1/4 turn the round piece and the bulb holder @ bulb will come out, you replace them both as an assembly.

they take diffrent bulbs depending on where they are. the bulb holders are color coded, call Dan tell him what is burned out and he will send you a package with what you need.

I have no seen these kinds of bulbs for sale enywhere else.

I have the corola fog light switch. if that is the JDM switch then it is not back light, it does have a "on" lamp, it of a very diffrent build style than the factory switches

Well, that explains why the fog light switch isn't backlit - there is just a piece of tape over the hole where the bulb goes.

Anyone know the pinout for one of the JDM fog light switches?

LOL, If your location is "right behind me" I'm glad I know where mine is and use is occaisioanally when things ahead are suspect/hazardous
