Hosted by the Louisiana Land Krewesers, the 8th Annual Mardi Krawl will kick off the 2020 Off-Roading event season on April 2, 2020!

Join us at Hawk Pride Mountain ORV Park in Tuscumbia, AL for four action-packed days of challenging trails, coveted raffle prizes, delicious food, great music and tons of fun! This event is open to all 4x4s willing to get a little topsy turvy at one of the nation’s best-rated offroad parks, with over 120 rock crawling trails and over 1,000 acres ready to accommodate 4×4 vehicles from stock to the most sophisticated rock buggies.

This year we will be raising money for Miracle League. The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Since the main barriers for these kids arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries.

The La Land Krewesers have been monitoring what is happening and how Mardi Krawl could be affected by Caronavirus COVID-19. It has been declared a national emergency by President Trump and a global pandemic by the World Heath Organization. And the state of Alabama has already started to follow suit with other states in closing schools, cancelling sporting events and other public events.

****At this time, the Mardi Krawl Planning Committee and the LLK BOD have made the tough decision, in the best interest of everyone, to postpone the 8thAnnual Mardi Krawl.****

Many things were looked at when making this decision including the health and well-being of attendees as well as our Krawl staff. Moreover, not knowing what actions the government will take or how COVID-19 will spread over the next 4 weeks, we felt it prudent to take action now. We have already gotten the go ahead for the new dates from Hawk Pride Mountain Offroad Park and we are working with our vendors and sponsors to make sure all goes smoothly.

****The new dates for the 8thAnnual Mardi Krawl are Sept 3-6, 2020.****

As an aside, one great thing about the new date is we won’t have to contend with the possibility of sub-freezing temps and it is likely that the park will have made some more improvements that we have recommended, like a larger pavilion. We know the new dates are 5 months out but we are trying not to conflict with any other TLCA events nor did we want to have it in the middle of summer when it’s blazing hot. For those who have already registered, refunds will be processed over the next few days. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at MardiKrawlReg@gmail.com

We appreciate your support of Mardi Krawl and look forward to seeing you in Sept.

Sincerely,

The Mardi Krawl Planning Committee

MK update.......

2020 sure has been a roller coaster ride so far. We hope everyone has stayed safe during everything that has happened so far. But we wanted to send out an update on MK. As of this message:
  • The event is still planned for Sept 3-6
  • We are still working on the itinerary but it may be a little different than previous years. Stay tuned.
  • All cabins are spoken for. 4 of the 9 RV sites are spoken for.
  • Registration is OPEN so if you have family / friends who are interested in coming, please direct them to www.MardiKrawl.com
Finally, we have gotten several messages about the Labor Day holiday and if it is included in the event. The event ends on Sun (and we usually don't have anything planned for Sun as everyone is usually packing and leaving) but if you want to stay thru Mon or Tues you are welcome to but all cabin / rv / camping fees as well as riding fees will have to be paid to the park for those extra days. Mark has agreed to close the park for our event on this holiday weekend when he is normally fully booked. The park will be open to the public starting on Sun as it has the past few years. We consider Mark a very good friend of the club and we ask that anyone wanting to stay do the right thing and pay the fees. Please remember, this is his business and he has been impacted by all this Covid mess like many of us have.

Sept can't get here fast enough and we look forward to hitting the trails with all of you!!

Thanks,

Mardi Krawl Planning Staff

Ok boys and girls. We are about 5 1/2 weeks from MK20. The planning committee got together this morning to start putting the finishing touches on what MK20 is going to look like. There are still a few things up in the air and we may have to make some alterations to the plan but as almost all of 2020 has gone, we will roll with the changes and hope you will too.

So, for starters, registration is still open. You and your friends can register here ——-> www.MardiKrawl.com

We are working with Mark, the park owner, to have the park closed for the event as we have done in the past. However, after people have requested refunds for many reasons, we are left with roughly 40 registered trucks as of today. The bottom line is we need more attendees to make it worth closing the park so that may have to be a last minute decision.

As for entertainment, we will likely have the band, Jeff Henson and who ever he happens to be playing with this week 🤪, on Friday night. Unfortunately, we will not be doing the optional Thur night Cajun dinner and music show. We should have some kind of DJ style music on Thur and Sat nights.

As for the food, we are looking to have jambalaya (as we always do) on Fri night and possibly red beans and rice (another New Orleans staple) on Sat. We may have something for Thur night but not sure at this time. More info to come. There will be no breakfast or lunch available so please plan accordingly. As of now the raffle is going to be on Sat night but will be different from previous years. This year especially we have had a very tough time acquiring raffle donations. So, we are still sorting out how it will work. More info as we figure things out.

The obstacle course race will turn into a timed trail race (this is gonna be fun) and we will also have a blind driver timed race. And yes, you will be able to buy time for and against the drivers like we’ve done for the obstacle course race in the past.

No matter what it looks like at the end of the day, everyone will have a good time. We will always have good people, good food, good music and a great venue. If you have questions please message us. Please share this with your off roading / overlanding friends so they can join in the fun and we can ensure the park is closed for our event.

@Bang Bang

Hope you guys made it through Laura alright. Haven’t seen much in the way of updates, but I had a last minute changes of plans and will now be attending this event. I see that late registration is still open, but wanted to make sure everything was still on before signing up.

Thanks and looking forward to it.

Yep. We are a go. We didn’t have any members who were directly affected by the storm that I am aware of. But we will be at HPO this week getting in some much needed trail therapy. So go ahead and register. We'll see you in a couple of days.
