wondering if anyone out there can help with advice. i have an '88 fj 62 with a seized motor. the vehicle is in overall fair condition. has a couple dents, some rust etc.

problem is i'm in hawaii on the island of kauai and have no time and/or aptitude for the repair needed.

does anyone know of landcruiser specialist anywhere in the island chain?

does anyone know where i can get a long block f3 for a reasonable price in hawaii or california or oregon or washington?

does anyone in hawaii salvage landcruisers?

thanks,

Don't know about Hawaii, but you could let your mouse do the walking and maybe find something. Mman-A-Fre and Specter both advertise as having 3FE engines, but you might want to check availability. I would suggest calling Specter anyways, they have always been happy to talk to me.

Hello everbody
I actually just looked at an 90 cruiser that had a seized engine, I thought you might be able to use a lot of force to turn the crank and free it. However, the garage I go to when there is something I can't do told me that the rings would probably at least get chipped. My question is 1) how does an engine become seized (isn't it rusted or welded in place where the rings meet the cylinder walls), I know from getting hot it can happen, but can and how can it happen from sitting. Question 2) would I just be able to take head off remove the pistons and clean up the cylinders with a ridge reamer, replace the rings, put it all back together, and go?
Thanks for your experienced feedback, take care.

Hey
Come on, somebody must know the answer to this question or is it a stupid question? Anyway, there is a 1990 fj62 on ebay that ends today, it's gold and in Exeter NH, I live near there so I went and looked at it. It is in better condition tha it looks in the photos, but when they say they can't get it to turn over they mean that the engine is siezed, so if any of you are bidding on it I just wanted you to know, I can't remember the item number but part of the heading says needs work.
Take care.
